Hundreds of middle and high school students from across the city will have the opportunity to study abroad in summer 2017.
In spring 2016, more than 900 students applied for the first cohort of the Global Scholars Program. In response to this tremendous interest, DCPS will expand this opportunity to 500 students in the following year.
Students will prepare for international excursions through pre-trip assignments and group meetings. During travel, students will blog and capture photos and, upon their return, they will share their experiences with their school communities.
Investments are needed for student and teacher travel, lodging, and curricular resources.

GLOBE Fellowship for DCPS Educators
INVESTMENT NEED: $400K
DCPS’ Global Understanding for All will offer professional development opportunities for educators who wish to integrate global perspectives into their classrooms.
Participating teachers will have opportunities to: attend the Annual Global Education Summit; earn a Teacher’s College Global Competence Certificate from Columbia University, which includes international travel experiences; or enroll in Harvard University’s Project Zero Professional Development sessions meant to bolster global perspectives.
